The present research want to respond to the most urgent needs in Cameroon in terms of health, communication and education. We are investigating behaviour dynamics in various aspects of life (e.g. culture, family, school and work, sexual practices, sanitary field and communication) which may be associated with the transmission of AIDS/SIDA in this population.
The project have beene carried out also thanks to a network of local institutions, public and private hospitals, universities, NGOs, associations and international organisations. Forty of them have already been involved in the project and are now collaborating with us.
The research methodology makes use of a quantitative (data collection, statistics, etc) and qualitative approach. The socio-anthropological intervention managed photographic and audiovisual tools to produce video-interviews, reportages, pictures and graphical materials. These materials will be elaborated and used in the awareness raising, prevention and communication campaign.
Results from our study will help understand behaviour related to the transmission of AIDS/SIDA in the Cameroonian population and plan an education campaign. This campaign will target women and children in particular because these are more likely to be affected by the psychological and clinical effects of AIDS/SIDA. The information campaign will be carried out by the University of Rome Tor Vergata, the Association “Archivio della Memoria of Rome”, and by technical sanitary operators and researchers in Cameroon, Italy and France.
Imagine yourself and your organization working in a developing country where, however, many problems, behavioral dinamics, cultural and traditional rules and many other elements reduce the impact and the success of your project; the problem is not your work or your enthusiasm... the problem is to understand the culture and the place where you are. AdM Cooperation work for this.
